Louise is a Corporate and Commercial lawyer with a special interest in intellectual property. She advises on general corporate and commercial transactions, including corporate structuring and re organisations, governance and compliance issues, privacy, consumer and, competition law. In matters of intellectual property, Louise is experienced in matters of trademark and copyright enforcement, strategies for the protection and exploitation of intellectual property in Australia and internationally. She has experience in misleading and deceptive conduct claims, passing off and related areas of contentious practice. She was the first to have success in Australia in registering a Twitter-style hashtag trademark for a client.

 

Suzie Leask, Senior Associate

Suzie practises in all areas of Corporate and Commercial law. She draws on her previous experience as a commercial lawyer in the Hotels, Tourism and Gaming team at an international law firm, and as in-house Legal Counsel for a global gaming company, to provide her clients with quality legal advice that is commercially focused and solutions-oriented. Her in-house Legal Counsel experience has given her an insight into the extensive range of risks and legal issues facing organisations, and the importance of maximising revenue while minimising risk to the business. Suzie is accustomed to assisting clients in heavily regulated industries, with an ability to complete highly complex legal tasks in innovative ways while maintaining compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements. She is known for being a trusted advisor to her clients, with a commercial, down to earth and responsive approach and experience in a broad range of areas.
